Tadley Men’s Shed were approached at this year’s Silchester Country Fayre to make up a frame for the Tadley Autumn Arts Festival. The frame needed to be portable and able to hold 21cmx21cm cards that would be hand-painted.
Thanks to Tony Biggs and Mark Sinclair for taking on the work to prepare the wood sections of the fame from stock that we held and working with the team from St.Pauls on their requirements. The design evolved over the course of the project so that we would deliver a stable display that could be easily dismantled and transported in an average sized car.
This resulted in four sections that could be displayed in multiple configurations using hinges that come apart (loose pin) and fold-out feet for stability. To secure the picture cards we strung out each section with nylon string screwed to the wooden frame. The final set of four sections for the ‘Our Tadley’ display frame was handed over by our Chairman, Paul Gross, to Jo and Lynne on Friday 16th October the day before the Arts Festival started.
